Alina Fresquez Patrick (b. 1999, United States) is a visual artist based in Brooklyn. Her work explores the proximity of love and horror in the female body through analog photography, collage, and multimedia experiments which push photography toward sculpture. Inspired by the “critical fabulation” theory developed by the writer and historian Saidiya Hartman, Patrick’s work uses family photo albums as a factual starting point from which she dips into the surreal. Patrick’s work has been exhibited at the International Center of Photography, the Penumbra Foundation, and Ziello Gallery amongst others. She has participated in artist residencies at institutions throughout the country including Penland School of Craft, the Penumbra Foundation, and was a finalist for a Fulbright grant in 2022. She is currently an adjunct faculty member at the International Center of Photography.
